State Data Protection Inspectorate carried out investigations focusing on data protection officers

In 2023, the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Lithuanian DPA) carried out investigations focusing on the role of data protection officers in 10 Lithuanian companies, in accordance with the inspection plan for 2023 and using an approved questionnaire.

The purpose of the investigations was to assess whether companies complied with the conditions, status and tasks of the appointment of DPOs defined in General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

These investigations were carried out under one of the three priorities of the Lithuanian DPA Strategic Action Plan for 2023, entitled “Strengthening international cooperation in the field of personal data protection“ and coordinated by the European Data Protection Board. They have also been implemented by other data protection supervisory authorities in the European Economic Area, including the European Data Protection Supervisor.
