Heads of Baltic data protection authorities share insights at practical conference
At the Baltic practical conference Baltic Privacy and Innovation Summit 2026, organised on 4 June by the Lithuanian Data Protection Officers Association (LDPOA) in cooperation with law firm Sorainen, expert insights were shared by Dijana Šinkūnienė, Director of the State Data Protection Inspectorate (SDPI), as well as the heads of the Latvian and Estonian data protection supervisory authorities - Jekaterina Macuka (joining remotely) and Pille Lehis.
The conference featured presentations and panel discussions involving policy, business and technology experts from Lithuania and across Europe. Participants explored the latest developments and challenges in the fields of privacy and artificial intelligence.
The discussions proved valuable for both businesses and supervisory authorities. As organisations seek to strike the right balance between legal requirements and practical implementation, open dialogue and mutual understanding remain essential. The heads of all three supervisory authorities emphasised the importance of cooperation, active listening and constructive engagement. They also highlighted that the primary objective of supervisory authorities is not to impose penalties, but to help organisations understand and comply with regulatory requirements.
